Creation
Genesis 1 · 8 questions · ages 7-9
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
The story
In the very beginning, God made the heaven and the earth. At first the earth had no shape at all, and it was empty, and darkness was over the deep water. Then God spoke. He said, Let there be light, and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he divided the light from the darkness. He called the light Day and the darkness Night. That was the first day. Genesis 1:1-5
On the second day God made the firmament and called it Heaven. On the third day he gathered the waters into one place so the dry land could appear. He called the dry land Earth and the waters Seas. Then he told the earth to bring forth grass and plants and fruit trees, each one making seed after its own kind. On the fourth day God made two great lights, the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night, and he made the stars also. Genesis 1:6-19
On the fifth day God filled the waters with fish and great whales, and he made birds to fly in the air. On the sixth day he made the animals of the land, and then he made man in his own image. God blessed them and gave them care over the fish, the birds, and every living thing. When God looked at everything he had made, it was very good. On the seventh day God rested from all his work, and he blessed that day. Genesis 1:20-2:3
