“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”

Genesis 6:8 (KJV)

The story

A long time ago the world had grown full of wrong-doing, but there was one man named Noah who loved God and walked with him. The Bible says that Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD, and that he was a just man who obeyed God. Because Noah trusted God, God chose to keep him and his family safe. Genesis 6:8-9

God told Noah to build a great big boat called an ark out of gopher wood, with rooms inside, a window, and a door. God said to bring two of every kind of animal, male and female, into the ark so they would be kept alive. Noah's three sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth helped, and Noah did everything just as God commanded him (Genesis 6:22). Genesis 6:14-20

Then it rained for forty days and forty nights, and the water lifted the ark up high and carried it safely. When the water went down, the ark rested on the mountains of Ararat, and Noah sent out a dove that came back with a fresh olive leaf (Genesis 8:11). After they came out, God set a rainbow in the clouds as a promise that he would never again flood the whole earth. Genesis 8:4, 9:13
