Bible verses about family
The best-known Bible verse about family is Joshua 24:15, "as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Other key verses are Exodus 20:12, "Honour thy father and thy mother," Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go," and Psalm 127:3, "children are an heritage of the LORD."
The Bible is full of families, and it is honest about them. Alongside the commands to honour parents and teach children are stories of brothers who fell out and made peace again, and a father who ran to meet a son who had wasted everything.
These KJV verses are grouped into five themes, from the home as a place where faith is taught, to the wider family that the New Testament says God builds from people of every background.
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
