Bible verses about children

The Bible calls children "an heritage of the LORD" (Psalm 127:3), and Jesus said, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:14). Scripture tells parents to teach their children God's words and tells children to honour their parents.

Children are everywhere in the Bible: prayed for, named, blessed, taught, and sometimes used by God before the grown-ups catch on. Samuel heard God's voice as a boy, and Timothy knew the Scriptures from a child.

The verses below are grouped by who they speak about or to: children as God's gift, Jesus with children, words for parents, words for children, and growing up in faith.
