Bible verses about hope

Well-loved Bible verses about hope include Romans 15:13, "Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing," Jeremiah 29:11, and Hebrews 6:19, which calls hope "an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast." In the Bible, hope is confident expectation resting on God's promises, not wishful thinking.

In everyday speech, hope can mean a wish that may or may not come true. The Bible uses the word more firmly. Hope looks forward to what God has promised, and it rests on his character: "he is faithful that promised."

The KJV verses below are grouped into four themes: God himself as the object of hope, hope in the middle of trouble, the hope of the resurrection, and the patient waiting that hope involves.
