Bible verses about women

The Bible says women and men alike are made in God's image (Genesis 1:27), and Proverbs 31:30 says "a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised." Jesus spoke directly and kindly to many women, and women were the first to hear that he had risen (Matthew 28:5-7).

Some of the most loved verses in the Bible were spoken about women or to them: Ruth's whither thou goest, Mordecai's such a time as this, and Jesus' Daughter, be of good comfort.

This page collects verses about women in general, the picture of a virtuous woman in Proverbs, Jesus' words to women he met, and the faith of named women from both testaments. For a guide to the women themselves, see the women of the Bible list.
