Creation

Six Days, One Voice, and a Universe Called Out of the Dark

Creation - illustrated Bible scene
Genesis 1-2
The story

Creation

Six days, one voice, and a whole universe called out of the dark.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. Then God speaks: let there be light, and there is light. Day by day His voice orders the world -- a firmament dividing the waters, dry land rising from the seas, grass and trees yielding fruit, lights set in the heavens to rule the day and the night, waters teeming with living creatures, birds filling the air, and beasts of every kind walking the earth. And God sees that it is good.

On the sixth day God says, let us make man in our image, and He forms man of the dust of the ground and breathes into his nostrils the breath of life. He plants a garden eastward in Eden and places the man there, and seeing that it is not good for man to be alone, He makes woman -- male and female created He them. God looks on everything He has made, and behold, it is very good. On the seventh day He rests, and blesses and sanctifies that day.

Everything we see began with the voice of God, and He called it very good. The world is not an accident but a gift, and every person bears the image of the Creator.
Verse to remember
