Bible verses for a birthday
Popular birthday verses are Numbers 6:24-26 ("The LORD bless thee, and keep thee"), Psalm 118:24 ("This is the day which the LORD hath made"), and Psalm 139:14 ("I am fearfully and wonderfully made"). For an older loved one, Proverbs 16:31 and Psalm 92:14 are favorites.
The Bible does not give a birthday verse as such, but it says a great deal about the gift of a life: that God made each person, numbers their days, and stays faithful into old age. Those are the verses people write in birthday cards.
The verses below are grouped by who the card is for: anyone, a child, someone starting a new year of life, and an older parent or grandparent. Every verse is the King James Version text.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
Psalm 139:14 · KJV
