Bible verses about perseverance

The Bible's best-known verse on perseverance is Galatians 6:9: "let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Scripture also pictures faith as a race run with patience (Hebrews 12:1) and promises that trials work patience in the believer (James 1:3).

The King James Version uses the word perseverance only once, in Ephesians 6:18. Most of the time it says the same thing with other words: patience, endure, faint not, be not weary, press toward the mark.

The verses below are grouped by what they ask of you: keep going, run the race, let trials do their work, get back up when you fall, and lean on the God who finishes what he starts.
